Aging and How Optimism Fits In - Part 2
In the blog post - Learn to be More Optimistic - Part 1, we posted 5 of the 10 things you can do NOW to cultivate an optimistic attitude that we got from Dr Margit Henderson. Here are 5 more things that promote optimism.
Set Realistic Goals…
Pick some goals that are achievable and that inspire and motivate you. If you have some big goals, break them down so you have progress to celebrate along the way. These small victories can boost optimism and confidence.
Practice Self-Compassion…
After years of living, one thing we can be confident about is that life can throw some difficulties and failures into the mix. Be kind and compassionate toward yourself and treat yourself with the same empathy and understanding you would offer to a friend in the same situation.
Stay Mindful and Present…
Practice mindfulness techniques, such as deep breathing, meditation, or yoga, to stay grounded in the present moment. These practices can help reduce stress and anxiety… keys to approaching life with clarity and optimism.
Learn from Your Fails…
It’s all in how you look at it… Instead of viewing failure as a sign of inadequacy or defeat, see it as an opportunity for growth and learning. I know this can be hard when "it" is hitting the fan, but practice, practice, practice. It is worth it!
Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle…
Since this is one of the main focuses of Goddess Living, we want to stress how important taking care of your physical health through regular exercise, nutritious eating, adequate sleep, and stress management is the foundation for wellness and can positively impact your mood and overall outlook on life.
Cultivating optimism can be a gradual process and can require patience and persistence. These 5 strategies, plus the 5 we shared previously (Read Part 1 HERE), provide a variety of things we can do to build our optimism muscle. Start today and reap the rewards of a better mood and a longer life.
