Intuition or Something Else

Intuition...  what it is and what it isn't

We take a look at what Intuition is and what it is not. We have talked a lot about the topic and have discovered some things about its nature and usefulness. In this article, we look at the many things that, while they still may be valuable, are something different than our intuition.

Why would we want to know this? The primary way we come to know something is by recognizing what is not that thing. Many of us have likely heard about how Michangelo carved the masterpiece statue of David… The story goes that he chipped away anything that was not David.

Contrast is what helps us see nuance and clarify what we are looking at. The cool thing about these contrasts is that each of them have their own value when we understand them as themselves. In other words, all those pieces that are not our intuition have their own value. They all help us understand ourselves better.

These notions emerged in an inquiry conversation between myself (Anne, Goddess Living Founder) and Guide Tien Neo Eamas. We are sharing the beginning with you here, and will continue the inquiry on this Friday's Goddess Talk. Using contrast, we will explore what intuition is and what it is not.

Intuition or Impulses

Intuition is a quiet, subtle voice that directs thoughts and actions. It fades into the background with its presence still felt and it guides us.

Impulses are forceful, more driven and don't go away easily.

Intuition quietly knocks on the door, while impulse leans on the doorbell. 🙂

Intuition or Insight

Intuition is a tacit hunch or feeling that influences thought with little conscious effort.

Insight is an explicit awareness of relationships between concepts that arrives suddenly and with little conscious awareness.

Intuition or Anxiety

Intuition is based on your inner wisdom and values and is in the present focusing on the here and now.

Anxiety is based on past experiences or future projections and influenced by external pressure and expectations.

Intuition or Instinct

Intuition: a thing that one knows or considers likely from instinctive feeling rather than conscious reasoning.

Instinct: an innate, typically fixed pattern of behavior in animals in response to certain stimuli.

Knowing what each reaction looks and sounds like makes it a whole lot easier to spot and use our intuition.  It is there FOR us.
