Dear Goddess,Our inquiry this month is centered around the masculine/feminine archetypes. A quick reminder from our Goddess Living launch about inquiry itself … “Inquiry (not answers) is a well known process of discovering something previously unknown to our conscious awareness. Authentic inquiry invites us to be curious and to look with honesty at ourselves first and then outward. Inquiry requires persistence. Persistence in looking beyond the readily available answers.” On Saturday, we discussed the concepts of masculine and feminine from several angles. Below, I share the inquiry material as well as a link (at the bottom) to the recordings of Saturday’s Session. I strongly encourage you to take the time and listen to this one! This subject is at the very heart of why we felt that now is an important time for us to reestablish and reinvigorate our relationship with our feminine side. There is an undeniable rise in demand for the feminine, by our planet, our societies and most of all, we sense it in ourselves. We can see it in the ravaged environment, the rampant and numerous health issues and the general lack of care … care for others and for OURSELVES. This aspect of our human experience has been repressed, downplayed, diminished, abused and ignored. Masculine and feminine energy is available to us ALL and men suffer from this imbalance as much (if not more) than we do. All HUMANS need a balance of feminine/masculine energies to experience love … love in its truest expression. To reclaim and lift up the feminine, and restore balance to the masculine we must first understand it. This month's inquiry is the most direct investigation we have conducted so far on this subject. We began our inquiry by looking at the Vedic (Sanskrit) theory of masculine/feminine. Vedic philosophy is derived from ancient Indian texts. These teachings have been around for hundreds of years before the bible and other modern spiritual and teaching text. Here are some quotes of the most relevant (to our inquiry) bits … |
“Given that the soul has a choice between prioritizing either meaning or pleasure, in Vedic philosophy, masculine is defined as the preference for meaning, while feminine is defined as the preference for pleasure.” “The terms masculine and feminine are somewhat different than the terms male and female. The definition of male is a subject who seeks meaning or pleasure, while the female is an object who is sought as meaning or pleasure.” An essential aspect of understanding masculine/feminine is to first separate it from the binary gender roles male/female.
