We hear a LOT about Self Care … how important it is and how to do it. We buy endless products (think about your current collection of creams and bath bombs) to take better care of ourselves AND we never seem to have the time or the energy left to actually do it.
By the time we get around to caring for ourselves, we literally gave at the office or gave to our loved ones already.
There was a “truth bomb”, this weekend in the Goddess Living Members Monthly session… one of the members shared her realization that there is a BIG difference between self-care and self love.
WHAT???!!!!
In the discussion that followed, it became clear that self-love is a whole different kettle of fish than self-care. AND, it makes self-care a no-brainer to include in our day.
Self-love means literally LOVING yourself. This means you give yourself the compassion, kindness and benefit of the doubt you offer others.
You tell yourself “I love you”. You listen to yourself and your intuition as if your wisdom matters… for you as much as everyone else.
Just like loving another, self-love is a choice we make over and over.
Here is a way to start …
Write a Love Letter to Yourself
It’s time for a little self-love. Use the prompts below to write yourself a love letter. Show yourself some compassion and kindness.
Wow… what was that like? Share with us on our FB page or by replying to this email.
Reading for FUN and Learning
Last Friday's Goddess Talk was our ongoing Book/Media Club day and some of us shared the books we are reading or have read; the stories that have touched us in some way.
Below are some recommendations from the gals. Many of us will be reading for years…
The Secret Wife of Aaron Burr - Susan Holloway Scott
Great Circle: A Novel - Maggie Shipstead
Small Great things - Jodi Picoult (anything by her)
Sacred Spaces - Dr Susan Fay
Trilogy of Books: The Potato Factory Trilogy - Bryce Courtenay
Girly Drinks: World history of women and Alcohol - Mallory O’Meara
Enjoy!
